The Charles County Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides paid employment, professional development, and mentorship for youth ages 16–24 who reside in Charles County. The program connects youth with local businesses for six weeks of paid employment beginning July 1, 2026. The program is administered by BETA Systems International (BSI) in partnership with Charles County Government. The program supports workforce development while providing youth with structured work experience and professional skill development.
Youth ages 16–24 who reside in Charles County. Priority consideration is given to youth who face employment barriers or lack access to summer employment opportunities.
Local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community institutions located within Charles County that are able to provide meaningful work experience and supervision for participating youth.
Participating Host Sites will receive:
• Community workforce development • Business participation in youth mentorship • Support provided by BSI throughout the program • Recognition for participating businesses • Opportunity to develop future workforce talent
SYE Program Timeline:
April 13–25, 2026 — Phase 1 Application Window Youth application portal open. Applicants submit Phase 1 applications.
May 4–16, 2026 — Phase 2 Application Window Candidates selected from Phase 1 complete Phase 2 applications.
May 30, 2026 — Participant Announcement Final participant selections announced. June 1–13, 2026 — Matches and Pairings BSI completes participant-to-host employer matches and confirms placements. June 15–30, 2026 — Pre-Employment Training Participants attend orientation sessions and professional development workshops in preparation for July 1 start. July 1, 2026 Program start date.
